Water isolation valve and leaking plumbing pipe

Emergency plumber Melbourne

Burst pipe or overflowing drain? Call 0478 414 129 with your suburb and what is happening. Check availability and discuss the next step.

What needs urgent attention?

Water escaping into a room, sewage backing up and a pipe that will not stop leaking need prompt attention. Explain whether the problem is getting worse and whether you have safely isolated the water.

A loss of hot water is a different problem from a leaking hot-water unit. Describe both the supply problem and any visible water so the enquiry starts with the right information.

  • Water flowing from a damaged pipe or connection.
  • Wastewater rising through a toilet, shower or floor drain.
  • A plumbing leak reaching walls, ceilings or flooring.

What should you do first?

For a water leak, turn off the property's water supply only if you know how and can safely reach the valve. Do not force a seized valve. Stay away from water near electrical fittings or appliances.

Stop using affected fixtures if wastewater is backing up. Keep people and pets away from sewage. If there is an immediate threat to life or serious danger, call 000.

Smell gas? From a safe location, call the gas distributor's emergency number shown on your bill. Energy Safe Victoria advises avoiding flames and electrical switches. A plumbing enquiry is not a substitute for the gas emergency service.

What should you tell us?

Have your suburb, address, the affected fixture and the time the problem started ready. Mention shared building access or an owners corporation contact if relevant. Call to check availability; arrival times depend on the job and location.

Common questions

Is a blocked toilet an emergency?

An overflowing toilet or sewage backing up needs urgent attention. Stop flushing and avoid contact with wastewater. A slow flush without overflow still needs assessment, but describe the symptoms when you call.
